From top left, clockwise: a 3x3 square dot primary grid, a 3x3 dotted-line tertiary grid, and an inverted "T" joining four points on the secondary grid. The "T"  interrupts the dotted, tertiary grid, to form the knot. The line of the knot is "sweetened" into curves. Four short lines laid about each intersection set off the "split-ribbon" weaving. The corners of the knot are treated in the art-nouveau  style of John Merne.
